Role Overview
We are seeking a Commercial Manager to oversee commercial governance and contractual performance across a portfolio of capital and operational projects within a major utilities/infrastructure environment. This role will lead commercial strategy, manage contract performance, mitigate risk and ensure robust commercial controls across suppliers and delivery partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead commercial management across capital and operational programmes
* Oversee contract performance, compliance and commercial risk
* Provide strategic commercial advice to project and delivery teams
* Lead tendering, supplier evaluation and contract negotiations
* Approve and review Applications for Payment, variations and change control
* Manage dispute resolution and contractual claims
* Support cost forecasting, commercial reporting, and audit readiness
* Ensure commercial activity aligns with governance, policy and budget controls
Skills & Experience
* Strong commercial management background in utilities, infrastructure or construction
* Proven experience managing high‑value or multi‑site operational contracts
* Strong knowledge of NEC or similar standard forms of contract
* Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management and risk management capability
* High level of analytical and financial reporting skills
* Proficient in MS Office and commercial systems
* Full UK driving licence and own transport
