The Role
An exciting contract opportunity has arisen for an experienced NOC L2 Shift Service Engineer to join a high‑profile, secure operational environment supporting critical MOD and commercial services.
Working within a 24/7 Network Operations Centre, you will provide second‑line technical support across live infrastructure, managing incidents, service requests and design changes while ensuring service levels and contractual KPIs are met.
This is a shift‑based position involving 12‑hour day and night shifts as part of a rotating pattern, including bank holidays.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver L2 technical support within a NOC environment, acting as an escalation point from L1 support
* Diagnose, analyse and resolve live service incidents and problems
* Act as the technical point of contact during major incidents and technical conference calls
* Interface with architects, on‑site engineers, third‑party suppliers and L3 engineering teams
* Apply change, configuration and incident management processes in line with ITSM principles
* Produce clear and concise technical documentation
* Operate within strict security and compliance requirements
Skills & Experience
* Strong networking knowledge with exposure to enterprise network environments
* Experience working in a NOC or service operations environment
* Understanding of Windows platforms and ITSM / ticketing tools
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels
* Strong awareness of security and compliance obligations
* CCNA certification or equivalent hands‑on Cisco networking experience
* Experience supporting MOD, defence or highly regulated environments
Security Requirements
* Active SC clearance is essential (DV preferred)
* UK nationals only (UK Eyes Only environment)
Working Pattern
* 12‑hour shifts on a rotating 24/7 day and night pattern
* Bank holidays included (including Christmas and New Year)
* Minimal travel to other sites if required
