Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Degree level or equivalent education in Audiology or MSc in Audiology
* Parts I and II BAAT and Certificate for higher training (Paediatric)
* Evidence of CPD
* On the voluntary register with ACHS
Desirable criteria
* Parts I and II BAAT and Certificate for higher training (Paediatric)
* Deaf awareness training
* CAC or CCC
Experience
Essential criteria
* 3 years of experience of working in an NHS audiology department
* 1 year of experience as paediatric audiologist
* Experience of aiding children using NHSP/BAA protocols
* Experience of working with the deaf, their families and culture
Desirable criteria
* Experience of behavioural, rehabilitation and electrophysiological assessment
* Audiological experience of working with newborn hearing screening programme
* Experience of working with a cochlear implant team
* Electrophysiological assessment for young babies
* Experience of peer reviews
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
* Ability to work with children and their parents with other disabilities, e.g. learning difficulties, autism.
* Ability to work as autonomous professional
* Multi-tasking, able to work under pressure
* Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and diverse patient group
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Desirable criteria
* Peer support
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Infection prevention and control
* Supervision ethos
* Theoretical and practical knowledge of paediatric audiology and advanced audiological test techniques including national developments
* Ability to formulate comprehensive and appropriate management plans based on good case history information
* Awareness of budgetary/management limitations and constraints
