Overview
We are currently seeking 1 full time Phlebotomy Team Leader / Trainer to join our busy but friendly team at Stamford and Rutland Hospital. Phlebotomists are responsible for the collection of blood samples by venepuncture from patients attending the hospital either as an inpatient or an outpatient. Phlebotomy Team Leader / Trainers are responsible to lead and direct the team, and ensure a smooth running service.
Previous experience leading staff is preferred however, our main priority is to find people with the values, attitudes and behaviours that match ours and therefore, we are happy to provide training and support for the right candidate.
The team provides phlebotomy services to the out-patients at Stamford Hospital and the wider GP community. As part of North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, staff are expected to be able to work at our other sites including Peterborough Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital if required.
As a Phlebotomist, Your Duties Would Include
* Explaining the procedure to patients and providing reassurance if needed.
* The collection of blood samples by venepuncture.
* Accurate identification of patients and labelling of samples.
* Delivering the samples to the laboratory within required timescales.
* Collating information regarding patient statistics, audit and patient surveys.
In addition to the responsibilities of a phlebotomist, the role requires:
* Provide supervision and leadership to a team
* Provide training for staff and ensure they maintain their skills and competencies
Phlebotomy experience is preferred but not essential. Please see the Job Description and Person Specification to ensure this is the job for you.
Duty periods will be 08:30 - 17:00 hrs Monday to Friday. 37.5 Hours per week.
