What you'll be doing:
This is a front office role with responsibility for the Group's treasury activity including management of daily cash requirements, execution of foreign exchange transactions and forecasting of liquidity needs over the following 12 months. The role also contributes to investment management of fixed income portfolios through production of credit research and analysis, portfolio analysis and performance attribution. Compliance with risk limits and delivery against regular reporting requirements are key accountabilities. The role holder is also expected to display knowledge and understanding of macroeconomic and technical developments impacting financial markets.
* Responsible for identifying and managing the Group's daily cash funding requirements including extensive coordination to identify business operational cash needs and other payments such as debt coupons, dividends, intercompany settlements, (2) investing or withdrawing cash from money market funds (MMFs), and (3) day to day relationship management with HSBC/ RBS (credit lines, cash sweeps etc.) and MMF providers.
* Maintain a 12-month liquidity forecast to ensure that Group future funding requirements are identified and, where necessary, recommend corrective management actions to ensure the Group remains within liquidity risk appetite at all times.
* Contribute to management of investment portfolios including credit analysis and provision of supporting research to rates and credit investment strategy.
* Support the oversight of externally managed illiquid credit portfolios including production of quantitative credit analysis, qualitative reviews and evaluation of initial investment proposals
* Monitor market developments and implications for the Direct Line investment portfolio, including the preparation of a weekly market review, ongoing monitoring of AFS reserves and input to the monthly management information reports.
* Responsibility for execution of approved FX spot and forward contracts (in line with Group policy and minimum standards).
* Collaborate with Risk, Capital Management and Investor Relations to ensure a strong alignment of interests and understanding of investment and treasury activities and capital / risk limit utilisation. Assist with production of asset information for capital modelling, Solvency II, budget and forecasting, and rating agency investment data requests.
Our hybrid model offers a 'best of both worlds' approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team but we are working towards 50% time in the office for 2026.
What you'll need:
* Minimum of 2:1 (or equivalent) degree in a numerate subject
* Good knowledge of capital markets and concepts, particularly money markets and fixed interest
* Good analytical and data manipulation & interpretation skills including strong spreadsheet skills
* Good communication and presentation skills; ability to formulate and communicate coherent arguments
* Fast learner and willing to take the initiative
