Job overview
We're looking to appoint a Highly Specialist Respiratory Physiologist, on a permanent basis to provide a high quality, patient focused, efficient Respiratory service within the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust. In addition to supporting the acute sites, the Cardiorespiratory Department will be providing some services at the CDC, Hollinswood House, Stafford Park. This post will assist in supporting all three sites and requires working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently as a professional.
The successful applicant should possess a BSc in Clinical Physiology/Science or equivalent with sufficient post qualification experience working at Band 6 Senior Physiologist level, in a range of respiratory physiology services to include Full PFT, CPET and LTOT. HCPC registration is desired.
Main duties of the job
* The role of The Highly Specialised Respiratory Physiologist is to provide a high quality, patient focused, efficient Respiratory service within the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust
* Work in conjunction with the department manager and other staff to ensure the service needs are met
* Performance of the full range of routine and more specialised Respiratory diagnostic tests
* Responsible for the monitoring and performance of calibration and quality control procedures for all equipment
* Supervision of less experienced staff
* Teaching and training of students, trainees and Trust staff
* Updates own professional knowledge
* Participation in research and development activities in Respiratory Medicine
Working for our organisation
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of district general hospital services for nearly half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. Together the hospitals have just over 700 beds and assessment & treatment trolleys.
Our main service locations are The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care and critical care.
The Cardio-respiratory Department has a base at both acute sites, and provides some service provision at Hollinswood House, our local Community Diagnostic Centre. We are a looking for a dynamic, professional and self‑motivated Respiratory Physiologist to join our multidisciplinary team which functions as one team over the 3 different sites. This also includes supporting the service provision from the Hollinswood House, which was opened in June 2024.

Experience and skills
* Significant experience working at Band 6 Senior Physiologist
* Performs a range of basic and highly specialised procedures

* Evidence of Leadership skills
Qualifications
* Appropriate Clinical Physiology qualification or equivalent
* ARTP Part I and II and/or equivalent experience
* Registration on HCPC/AHCS register
