Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and well-organised
Sales and Marketing Assistant
to support the Head of Sales & Bids in delivering high-quality business development, tender submissions, and marketing activities across the UK rail sector.
This role plays a vital part in supporting the company's growth strategy within the railway industry where the successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating sales activities, preparing bids and proposals, maintaining CRM data, and assisting with marketing campaigns to enhance brand awareness and lead generation.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Support:
* Assist the Head of Sales & Bids in preparing sales presentations, proposals, and tender documentation.
* Maintain and update the CRM system with accurate client and opportunity data.
* Monitor industry tender portals for new opportunities and assist in internal opportunity tracking processes
* Schedule meetings, calls, and follow-ups with clients and internal stakeholders.
* Prepare and distribute sales reports, pipeline updates, and performance metrics.
* Prepare sales packs, case studies, and supporting documents for client meetings and industry events.
* Liaise with supply chain partners and internal stakeholders to gather inputs and documentation for bids.
* Conduct market and competitor research to support strategic sales decisions.
Marketing Support:
* Support the development and execution of marketing campaigns aimed at increasing visibility within the UK railway industry.
* Assist in content creation for brochures, newsletters, social media, case studies, and press releases related to rail projects.
* Help maintain the company website with up-to-date project wins, capability statements, and sector-specific content.
* Support the planning and execution of rail-focused events, trade shows (e.g. Railtex, Rolling Stock Networking), and industry/client networking functions.
* Monitor marketing KPIs and report on campaign performance, website traffic, and social engagement.
Bids & Proposal Coordination:
* Provide administrative and document management support for bids and tender submissions.
* Assist in compiling supporting documents, case studies, and company credentials for proposals.
* Work with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and compliant submissions.
* Maintain a library of bid content, templates, and boilerplate documents.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
* Previous experience in a sales, marketing, or bid support role within a regulated or technical industry.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Familiarity with CRM and marketing tools.
Desirable:
* Understanding of the UK railway industry, including knowledge of key stakeholders (e.g. Network Rail, FOCs, TOCs, ROSCOs, DfT).
* Experience supporting tender/bid processes.
* Knowledge of industry platforms / tender portals such as Bravo, Delta eSourcing or Central Digital Platform
* Basic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) or familiarity with CMS platforms.
* Understanding of digital marketing channels and techniques.
