Engineering Technician - Moulding (Night Shift)
We are looking for an Engineering Technician to join our moulding production team in Plymouth, United Kingdom. The role will support engineering activities related to manufacturing processes, focusing on equipment performance, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting during night shift (11 pm – 11 am, 3 days on/3 days off). The position offers a competitive salary of £36,000‑£38,000 plus a 37 % shift premium, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
Job Description
An Engineering Technician will provide day‑shift engineering support to technical associates, resolve complex equipment breakdowns, and work on continuous improvement projects. Key responsibilities include:
* Provide technical expertise and assistance to technical associates in resolving complex machine‑related faults.
* Identify improvements to existing equipment that lead to H&S improvements, cost reductions, and higher productivity.
* Ensure all manufacturing equipment is set up and produces product according to established standards.
* Participate in regular team meetings, technical knowledge transfer, and training of associates.
* Coordinate yearly preventative maintenance activities to meet production planning demands.
Qualifications
* At least a Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Proven experience in a highly automated manufacturing environment in the moulding discipline.
* Proficient IT skills for operating SAP systems, logging maintenance, ordering parts, and diagnosing faults.
* Strong engineering aptitude for fault finding and resolving technical problems.
* Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, electrical, and servo systems is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude when mentoring and assisting less experienced associates.
