Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and uphold high standards of food safety and hygiene. The Commis will work closely with senior chefs and team members to ensure smooth kitchen functioning and exceptional service delivery.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes according to established recipes and standards
* Support the mise en place process by preparing ingredients and ensuring all items are ready for service
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
* Follow instructions from senior chefs regarding food presentation, portioning, and garnishing
* Contribute to maintaining a hygienic kitchen environment by adhering to health and safety protocols
* Support team members during busy service periods to ensure timely delivery of orders
* Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and notifying supervisors of shortages or expiry dates
* Participate in training sessions aimed at enhancing culinary skills and knowledge
Skills
* Proven experience in food production, cooking, or kitchen environments, preferably within hospitality or restaurant settings
* Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
* Demonstrated ability to work efficiently within a team and manage time effectively during busy periods
* Leadership qualities with experience supervising or managing small teams is advantageous
* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
* Knowledge of culinary techniques, food presentation, and restaurant operations
* Ability to follow instructions accurately while maintaining high standards of quality
* Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and senior staff
