Principal Primary HV Plant Engineer
Location: Remote, UK Wide
Salary: up to £90,000 (based on experience)

Turner Lovell are working with a leading UK utility infrastructure contractor to find a Principal Primary HV Plant Engineer who will take a lead role in delivering and overseeing primary plant designs for National Grid and other transmission and distribution substation projects across the UK (33kV-400kV).

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead end-to-end primary HV plant design packages (concept through to construction delivery), including single-line development, primary layouts, and equipment selection and specification.
* Provide technical governance by reviewing, approving, and signing off internal and third-party designs for accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
* Act as the discipline lead for primary plant engineering, mentoring engineers and coordinating with protection and control, civil, cables, and project delivery teams.
* Interface with clients and stakeholders, representing the contractor as the subject matter expert for primary plant design.
* Support procurement activities by preparing technical specifications, evaluating supplier bids, and reviewing manufacturer drawings and documentation.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
* Significant UK experience delivering primary substation designs at 132kV-400kV (AIS or GIS).
* Strong working knowledge of UK National Grid and Transmission Operator standards and practices.
* Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination, mentor engineers, and manage multiple design workstreams to deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills with a track record of successful client and stakeholder engagement.
