Procurement Engineer

Rate: £40 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 12 Months
About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer to join a leading global organisation at the forefront of healthcare innovation. Based in Oxfordshire, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge medical imaging technology that improves access to healthcare worldwide.
As a Procurement Engineer, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of globally sourced components, driving long-term sourcing strategies and ensuring a resilient and cost-effective supply chain. This role offers a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to influence strategic sourcing decisions within a collaborative, international environment.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a technical interface between Procurement, R&D, and suppliers, supporting cost analysis throughout the product lifecycle
Drive cost optimisation initiatives including:
Cost Value Engineering (CVE)
Should-cost modelling
Benchmarking and target costing
Support product development by providing cost estimates and manufacturing recommendations
Partner with Procurement teams during supplier negotiations through data-driven insights
Develop and standardise cost optimisation methodologies and tools
Contribute to procurement transformation initiatives and digitalisation programmes
Collaborate with global stakeholders across the UK, Germany, China, and international supplier base
Your Experience & Qualifications
Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
Proven experience in engineering and/or procurement with strong supplier engagement
Strong technical knowledge of electro-mechanical components and manufacturing processes such as:
Sheet metal fabrication
Machining and casting
Composite structures
Mechanical assemblies and cable assemblies
Demonstrated expertise in cost analysis, cost structures, and value engineering
Skills & Attributes
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Confident working in cross-functional and international teams
Strong negotiation and influencing capabilities
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently
Willingness to travel internationally (up to 20%)
