Catalyst Partners are supporting a leading international energy trading organisation seeking an Senior HR Business Partner to act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership across its trading desks. Operating in a dynamic, fast‑moving market environment, this is a highly visible role partnering closely with commercial leaders to align people strategy with business performance.


This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse, global organisation with offices across London, Paris, Singapore and Houston, and become part of a collaborative HR function supporting high-performing teams responsible for trading power, gas, LNG, LPG, oil and environmental products.

In this role you will shape organisational capability, drive workforce planning, and contribute to cultural transformation within one of the most sophisticated trading environments in the sector.


Key Responsibilities:

* Act as a trusted advisor to Senior Traders and Heads of Desk, offering data-driven insights that shape business decisions and organisational performance.
* Partner with leaders to design workforce plans that support commercial objectives in volatile, fast-moving markets.
* Lead initiatives across organisational design, workforce optimisation and cultural evolution.
* Support the business in structuring teams for long-term success, resilience and agility.
* Drive talent management strategies, identifying high-potential employees and supporting succession planning across key areas of the business.
* Coach senior leaders to enhance people management capability.
* Partner with Legal and Compliance to mitigate people-related risks, including conduct, regulatory change and ER issues.
* Ensure HR practices meet the rigorous standards expected in a heavily regulated market.
* Lead the delivery of specific HR projects, guidelines and frameworks that drive alignment with the organisation’s strategic goals.


The ideal candidate will be a credible and commercially aware HR professional with strong experience partnering senior leaders in fast-paced environments. They will understand the commodity lifecycle, trading P&L and risk management, and be comfortable balancing strategic input with hands‑on delivery. Skilled in HR systems, employment law and digital tools, they will bring excellent communication, influencing and analytical abilities. Highly proactive, organised and resilient, they can build strong relationships, manage complexity and operate effectively under pressure.
