Who We Need
We’re seeking a passionate, driven individual to join our Apprenticeships Team at Nottingham College – someone who genuinely cares about making a difference in the lives of young people. This is a unique opportunity to work within our Ofsted Outstanding Residential Provision, providing support, guidance, and enrichment to apprentices in a residential setting. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our apprentices have an exceptional experience, both academically and personally.
As our Residential Wellbeing Coordinator, you’ll work alongside our current Wellbeing Coordinator, the Head of Student Experience for Apprenticeships, and the wider Apprentice Support Team at the Hub in Ruddington to develop and deliver a vibrant Wellbeing and Enrichment programme. Based at our residential provision, you’ll work Sunday to Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., supporting apprentices during their residential stay. You’ll remain a visible and reliable link to the College, working closely with hotel staff and attending meetings with our service partners to ensure seamless support. Collaboration with campus-based staff will also be central to the role, making sure communication between the residential setting and the College is clear, effective, and focused on the best outcomes for apprentices.
This position will suit a trustworthy and committed individual who understands the importance of maintaining an outstanding student experience within a residential context. You’ll bring knowledge of the KCSIE guidance and the Residential Inspection Framework, while also taking a keen interest in the forthcoming Ofsted Inspection Toolkit (effective November), ensuring our provision continues to exceed expectations.
Key Duties Of The Role Include
* Champion the Student Experience – ensure apprentices feel supported, valued, and motivated, especially within the residential setting.
* Translate Feedback into Action – gather and act on apprentices’ feedback from both college and residential environments, driving meaningful improvements.
* Safeguarding First – act as the first point of contact for any safeguarding concerns, providing timely support to keep apprentices safe and supported.
* Collaborate & Lead – support the cross-College Safeguarding Network, share best practice, and continuously improve the College’s approach for apprenticeships.
* Enhance Residential Life – actively engage with apprentices in the residential provision, helping create a positive, safe, and enriching environment where every student can thrive.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated professional committed to delivering the highest standards in student support and wellbeing. You will champion a positive student experience across a diverse, multi-site organisation, inspiring and motivating colleagues while fostering collaborative relationships with partners. You’ll approach challenging situations with confidence, using your problem-solving skills to deliver practical, solution-focused outcomes.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Highly effective organisational and prioritisation skills, ensuring tasks and initiatives are managed efficiently.
* Experience in a safeguarding role, handling complex issues such as abuse, neglect, radicalisation, and CSE.
* Strong knowledge of current safeguarding legislation, statutory requirements, and relevant guidance.
* Proven ability to manage sensitive and complex situations with professionalism and discretion.
* Outstanding communication, negotiation, mediation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with young people, parents/carers, colleagues, and other professionals.
* Ability to work independently and autonomously, taking initiative and demonstrating sound judgment in a residential setting.
* Trustworthy, reliable, and resilient, with a strong commitment to student welfare and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
* It is highly desirable that the postholder holds a full UK driving licence and is able to drive, although this is not essential.
