Job Summary
Applications are invited for this new post within the Cardiology Department with a focus on transcatheter valve intervention at the Leeds General Infirmary. Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is a leading interventional cardiology unit serving 2.8 million in West Yorkshire, performing over 1 100 primary PCI procedures annually, and delivering more than 600 TAVI procedures per year. The role will contribute to the delivery and development of the TAVI, mitral, and tricuspid programmes in Leeds.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will specialise in transcatheter valve intervention, contributing to the TAVI, mitral, and tricuspid programmes. The role includes participation in the acute and primary PCI rotas and ward care of coronary artery disease patients. A major interest in clinical research is expected, and a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is desirable. The appointed consultant will be required, if shortlisted, to give a ten‑minute presentation on how they will develop the valve & structural intervention service in Leeds.
Qualifications and experience
* MRCP (or equivalent) and inclusion on the Specialist Register, or within six months of CCT at the time of interview for doctors currently in a training programme.
* In accordance with consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
* Established skills in coronary intervention and its related specialties including TAVI.
* Strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Working pattern and contract
Permanent contract. Full‑time. Salary range: £113,565 to £150,569 a year.
