Director - Water Environment
Location: Glasgow or Perth (relocation support available)
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £65,000 - £80,000 (depending on experience)
About the Role
An established environmental consultancy is looking for a senior leader to head up its Water Environment division.
The team includes 7 experienced professionals based across Glasgow and Perth. This is a rare opportunity to step into a director-level role that combines technical delivery, leadership, and strategic growth.
The company supports clients across the UK through the planning and development process, delivering practical, environmentally sound, and commercially viable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team covering flood risk, drainage, and peatland hydrology
2. Oversee project delivery, team resourcing, client relationships, and financial reporting
3. Provide technical input on complex or high-value projects
4. Drive innovation, quality, and continuous improvement
5. Contribute to company-wide strategy alongside the senior leadership team
6. Support business development and represent the company externally
7. Maintain a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture
About You
8. 10+ years' experience in environmental consultancy
9. Strong technical background in flood risk, drainage design, or peatland restoration
10. Chartered (e.g. CIWEM, ICE, IEMA)
11. Experience managing teams and projects
12. Comfortable working with clients and contributing to business growth
13. Knowledge of UK policy, legislation, and planning frameworks
14. Experience with major planning applications or nationally significant projects
