Description
* Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Support the budgeting and forecasting process, providing clear and actionable insights.
* Monitor financial performance and highlight variances to key stakeholders.
* Collaborate with departmental heads to develop and manage financial plans.
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards.
* Provide support for audits and assist with the preparation of statutory accounts.
* Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies.
* Deliver financial reports and presentations to senior management as required.
Profile
A successful Senior Management Accountant should have:
* A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent.
* Proven experience in management accounting within a not‑for‑profit or research environment, with a strong understanding of grant funding structures, restrictions, and reporting requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to manage and monitor multiple funding streams, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and ensuring compliance with funder guidelines.
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering with researchers, project leads, and external funders to provide financial insight and support decision‑making.
* Advanced technical accounting skills (e.g., accruals, prepayments, project accounting), with the ability to produce clear, accurate financial reports and translate complex financial data into meaningful insights.
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
* Experience in preparing management accounts and financial analysis.
