Bishop Wordsworth’s School is seeking an experienced and forward thinking Head Science Technician to lead and develop our Science Technician team and ensure the highest quality technical support for teaching and learning across the Science Department.
This post arises following a vacancy in Chemistry and offers an opportunity for an experienced technician, ideally with a strong background in Chemistry, to bring fresh perspective, leadership and expertise to a large and successful department.
The successful candidate will lead a team of technicians supporting Physics, Biology, Key Stage 3 and Chemistry, alongside a newly appointed Assistant Laboratory Technician. The role is both strategic and hands on, with responsibility for managing people, systems and resources in the best interests of students and the curriculum.
Key responsibilities include
* Line managing and developing the Science Technician team
* Leading on Chemistry practical provision and continuity
* Working closely with teaching staff to align technical support with curriculum priorities
* Leading health and safety practice across the department including COSHH and CLEAPSS compliance
* Attending relevant staff meetings and acting as the professional voice of the technician team
