About the Role
Stoke on Trent City Council is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Housing Solutions team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of our service and make a real difference in the lives of those in the city. The position is open to both internal and external applicants, and employees currently at risk of redundancy will receive priority.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out assessment of applicants requesting to join the housing register, providing recommendations based on housing needs of the applicant.
* Work with the lettings team to assess empty homes and recommend applicants whose needs will be met within a specific home.
* Collaborate effectively with the council adaptations team and other occupational therapists.
* Oversee a caseload of support and advise other officers in the team, supporting service users to achieve their goals of independence and well-being.
* Conduct manual handling risk assessments and provide recommendations for specialist equipment and adaptations.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practice guidelines.
