North Bristol NHS Trust’s Neuropsychiatry Service, based at The Rosa Burden Centre on the Southmead Hospital campus in Bristol, is a regional specialist service providing inpatient and outpatient care for adults with complex neuropsychiatric conditions. It works closely with Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neurophysiology and Neuropsychology to deliver integrated, person‑centred care pathways, alongside a neuropsychiatric liaison function to acute wards. The service includes a 12‑bed inpatient unit (with specialist sleep investigation facilities) and a broad outpatient programme covering conditions such as epilepsy, functional neurological disorders, brain injury, sleep disorders, cognitive impairment and neuropsychiatric aspects of progressive neurological disease. The multidisciplinary team is highly collaborative, working with allied health professionals and regional networks to provide innovative, evidence‑based care and support professional development.
Main Duties
The post holder will provide high‑quality, compassionate neuropsychiatric care, maintaining clinical responsibility for patients and contributing to the effective running and development of the service. They will communicate complex and sensitive information clearly to patients, carers and colleagues, and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multi‑agency teams to deliver integrated, person‑centred care. The role includes clinical leadership, supervision and support of junior medical staff, and active involvement in teaching, training and mentoring. The post holder will contribute to service and policy development, ensure effective and efficient use of resources in line with Trust policies, and demonstrate an understanding of NHS systems and financial responsibilities. They will promote equality, diversity and inclusive practice, engage in continuous professional development, and participate in supervision, mentorship and appraisal to support both personal development and high standards of patient care.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Registration
Essential criteria
* Maintain full registration with the GMC.
* MRCPsych (Required)
* CCT in General Adult or Liaison Psychiatry or any other psychiatric CCT with evidence of experience working with adults with neuropsychiatric conditions.
* Specialist registrars that do not hold a CCT must be due to be awarded one within 6 months of the interview date. CESR applicants are welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview.
* Requirement for Section 12 status and /or A/C status.
Desirable criteria
* Higher academic qualification (e.g., MD or MS).
* Sub‑speciality training in Sleep Disorders.
* Sub‑speciality training in Functional Neurological Disorders.
Training and Experience
Essential criteria
* Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
* Clinical training and experience in General Neuropsychiatry equivalent to that required for UK CCT.
Desirable criteria
* Experience in tertiary Neuropsychiatric centre.
* Experience of the management of patients with Sleep Disorders and/or Functional Neurological Disorders.
Further Training, Management, Audit
Essential criteria
* Evidence of recent CME reasonable training progression at this stage of career.
* Experience in audit project and written up.
* Knowledge of contemporary NHS management issues.
* Knowledge of political context within which we operate.
Desirable criteria
* Completion of a general management course or programme.
Research, Teaching, Publications
Essential criteria
* Proven teaching ability.
* Willingness to undertake teaching of medical under‑graduates & postgraduates.
Desirable criteria
* Proven track record in research.
* Willingness to undertake further research.
* Ability to gain the trust and confidence of colleagues and patients.
* Ability to teach effectively.
* Evidence of relevant publications in peer‑reviewed journals.

* Must reside within 30 minutes or ten miles from the principal place of work.
* Must hold the appropriate home office work / residence status to provide work in the UK.
The successful applicant(s) will normally commence at the minimum of the scale unless they have previous NHS service at the same band. Progression through the scale is by annual increments.
