Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service (HIWFRS) are committed to keeping our communities safe, well and informed - and our prevention work plays a large role in this.
The Prevention team provides fundamental support to our communities across HIWFRS, by providing first-class initiatives to keep them safe. Our prevention activities include engagement with and education of the community, Home Fire Safety visits, delivery of children and young people programmes and Safeguarding.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Safety Development Officer to join our team. In this role you will contribute towards the development of high-quality and evidence-based prevention activities in our communities, in order to promote fire, road and water safety and consequently reduce casualties and fatalities. You will develop, create, and evaluate resources, tools, training and education packages, workstreams and initiatives to aid the delivery of prevention activities to the community by the wider prevention team, operational staff and volunteers. You will hold responsibility to ensure tools and frameworks are embedded, which allow prevention activities to be quality assured, evaluated and continuously improved.
The role requires strong skills in creativity, innovation and problem-solving, alongside a passionate desire to make the lives of residents safer.
The postholder must have experience of Project Management and an ability to lead projects. An ability to research, evaluate and analyse information and present results in a clear and concise manner. An ability to demonstrate a track record of building, negotiating and influencing internal and external stakeholders, networks and partnerships. Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate confidently and effectively are important along with being able to work on their own initiative in an engaging and imaginative way to promote high-quality delivery.
