Consultant Psychiatrist Acute Inpatient Ward
Location: Nottingham (On-site)
Contract Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
We are working with a leading independent mental health provider to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a well-established inpatient service in the Nottingham area.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive multidisciplinary team within an acute and psychiatric intensive care (PICU) setting, providing care to adults experiencing a range of complex mental health conditions.
The service is set within extensive grounds and offers a structured, therapeutic environment focused on recovery, dignity, and personalised care.
Key Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for patients within an acute inpatient ward
Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983)
Lead multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, and care planning meetings
Contribute to pre-admission assessments and referral processes
Support formulation, diagnosis, and treatment planning for complex presentations
Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care within a therapeutic milieu
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support recovery-focused outcomes
Requirements GMC registration with inclusion on the Specialist Register (essential)
CCST/CCT (or equivalent) in Psychiatry
Experience working within inpatient mental health settings
Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act (1983) and associated responsibilities
Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
