About This Role
We are seeking to appoint a permanent post as Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering to help develop and contribute to teaching, research, and knowledge exchange within the School of Engineering at UWE Bristol. This role is offered as a full‑time appointment (100 percent) and presents a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of engineering education within traditional disciplines including Electrical, Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering both fundamental knowledge and cutting‑edge engineering content, providing mentorship to students, and contributing to research initiatives. We are particularly interested in candidates who not only possess a strong academic background, but also have practical experience in relevant industries. The basis for the role is expertise in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, with expertise in some of all of Communications, Software Defined Radio, Signals and Systems, Adaptive Control or Digital System Design.
You should have, or be near to the completion of, a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. We also welcome applicants from a professional practice or industry background, with a qualification equivalent to degree level in a subject relevant discipline, together with demonstrable relevant professional experience within Electrical Engineering. Whilst not mandatory, a teaching qualification and prior experience in higher education instruction are highly desirable.
Individuals with a research‑oriented mind‑set will have the opportunity to explore their passions within a dynamic team of research active staff within the School of Engineering. You will have opportunity to link with existing projects with the support of senior staff, plus contribute to scholarly activities including publications and proposal writing. About You
We require candidates that have a broad set of skills but who can teach an in‑depth knowledge of academic theory and / or practice in a relevant discipline related to Electrical and Electronic Engineering. With this field we are looking for subject expertise in one or more of the following areas:
* Analogue & Digital communications and software defined radio
* Signals and Systems including Digital Signal Processing
* Intelligent or adaptive control for electrical engineering applications
* Digital System Design including System‑on‑Chip integration and Hardware Description Languages
The successful applicant will have a Doctoral‑level qualification in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. If from a professional practice / industry background, the successful applicant will have a qualification equivalent to degree level (or above) in Electrical engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant professional / industry experience.
A teaching qualification and experience of teaching in higher education is desirable. Experience of working in or collaborating with relevant industry is desirable and there will be opportunities to work with industry on knowledge exchange projects. A portfolio of research related to Electronic and Electrical Engineering that aligns with University’s strategy and ethics is desirable.
