Role: Technical Manager
Location: Leighton Buzzard
Hours: Monday to Friday, hybrid role
Salary: £70,000 - £85,000 per annum, dependent on experience
An excellent opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Technical Manager to lead the technical function of a UK-based manufacturer specialising in Ultraviolet (UV) and Infrared (IR) technology.
You will have a strong engineering background, leadership and proven track record in delivering innovative technical solutions. You will oversea product development, engineering support, technical service and play a vital role in ensuring quality, performance and continuous improvement of the product range.
Duties of a Technical Manager:
1. Lead and manage the technical team across design, engineering, testing, and technical support functions.
2. Oversee the development and enhancement of UV and IR systems for industrial and commercial applications.
3. Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex engineering issues, product customisations, and application-specific solutions.
4. Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to support technical enquiries, customer demonstrations, and product training.
5. Ensure that all products meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards (CE/UKCA marking, RoHS, etc.).
6. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in product performance, manufacturing processes, and system reliability.
7. Manage product lifecycle from concept to production, including documentation, testing, and validation.
8. Stay up to date with advancements in UV/IR technology, materials, and relevant industry standards.
9. Liaise with external suppliers, partners, and testing houses as required.
What we would like from you:
10. Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
11. Proven experience in a technical leadership or managerial role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
12. Strong knowledge of UV and IR technology and their industrial applications (e.g., curing, drying, heating, disinfection).
13. Experience with product development, systems integration, and engineering documentation.
14. Excellent problem-solving, project management, and interpersonal skills.
15. Comfortable working cross-functionally with sales, operations, and production teams.
16. Proficiency with CAD software, electrical schematics, and technical analysis tools
