Young Person’s Practitioner
Location: Southampton
Contract: Initial 3-month temporary contract
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay: £21 per hour (umbrella) (£19 PAYE an hour)
Southampton City Council are seeking a dedicated and passionate Young Person’s Practitioner to join their Young People’s Service. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people at risk of exploitation, family breakdown or involvement in criminality.
About the Role You will be part of a multi-agency, creative, and child-centred team delivering early intervention and targeted support to young people and their families. Working alongside social workers, education providers, and police partners, you will help disrupt risk, promote safety, and support young people in achieving positive outcomes.
This role includes a mix of case-holding and joint work, providing direct interventions to young people and their network to strengthen relationships, enhance resilience, promote community safety and reduce harm.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored support to young people at risk of exploitation, offending, missing episodes or placement/family breakdown
Deliver direct interventions using evidence-based and systemic practice
Co-work with social workers and partner agencies to support robust and meaningful care plans
Build supportive and effective relationships with families, carers, schools, police, and wider professionals
Complete clear, timely, and accurate case records and reports
Attend planning meetings, reviews, and multi-agency discussions
Work flexibly to meet the needs of young people and familiesAbout You We are looking for someone who is:

Skilled in communication, relationship-building and problem-solving
Confident working collaboratively with multi-agency partners
Able to work flexibly and independently under guidance
A Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (or willingness to complete) and experience supporting children, young people and families with complex needs is required.
