This is a senior leadership appointment driven by sustained growth within the Development Planning division and represents a key strategic hire for the business.
Reporting into the national Transport Planning leadership, you will take on a highly influential role—setting up and growing a new London-based Transport Planning team, leading major development projects, developing talent, and driving business growth across the capital. You will also work closely with established Transport Planning teams in other UK offices, sharing expertise, resources and best practice.
The Role
You’ll lead a diverse portfolio of development-led transport planning projects across London and the South East, including residential, commercial, education, retail, leisure and renewable energy schemes. In parallel, you’ll play a central role in building the London team from the ground up, shaping regional strategy and strengthening relationships with key clients, local authorities and internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
* Setting up and leading a new London Transport Planning team.
* Technical oversight and delivery of Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans.
* Strategic leadership of high‑profile, multi-sector development projects.
* Collaboration with Transport Planning teams at other offices to deliver multi-regional projects.
* Mentoring, managing and developing transport planning professionals.
* Supporting business development, work‑winning and client relationship management.
About You
* Strong consultancy background in development-related transport planning.
* Proven experience leading complex projects and managing key client relationships.
* In-depth knowledge of the UK planning system, ideally with London experience.
* Track record of building, mentoring or managing transport planning teams.
* Commercially minded, confident in winning and growing work.
Package & Benefits
* Competitive salary plus £7,500 travel allowance.
* Bonus scheme of up to 25%, based on individual, team and company performance.
* 7% employer pension contribution.
* Private health care and life assurance.
* Hybrid working: 3 days office / 2 days home.
* Modern, centrally located London office.
This is a rare opportunity to shape and lead a new Transport Planning function in London within a respected consultancy that offers genuine autonomy, strong national support and ambitious growth plans – ideal for a Director ready to make a long-term strategic impact.
