The Opportunity
We're expanding our footprint in the Midlands region and are seeking a passionate and driven Business Development Manager to join our team. Based out of our established Derby branch, you will play a key role in building strong client relationships and driving sales growth.
This role is ideally suited to someone with existing experience and networks in the construction, groundworks, or civil engineering sectors in the Midlands, along with proven hire and sales background.
Key Responsibilities
* Identifying target customers and creating new sales opportunities
* Developing strong relationships with construction, groundworks, and civil engineering businesses
* Visiting clients across the Midlands region to build partnerships and deliver solutions
* Liaising with colleagues to develop and implement sales strategies
* Attending industry events, networking opportunities, conferences, and trade fairs
* Preparing sales presentations, financial projections, and meeting sales targets
* Understanding the full product range and service offerings to create added value for clients
* Working closely with our technical support division to maximise opportunities
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience in hire and sales within construction, groundworks, or civil engineering
* Strong existing business relationships and networks in the Midlands region
* Knowledge of survey or technical safety equipment (preferred but not essential)
* A passionate, motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — able to build trust and credibility quickly
* Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple opportunities at once
* Full clean driving licence
Package & Benefits
* Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 (DOE) + up to £9,000 commission
* Benefits: Company vehicle, phone, laptop, fuel card, and company credit card
* Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.30am–4.30pm
* Annual Leave: 25 days plus bank holidays
* Pension: Contribution in line with government workplace pension scheme
