We are seeking a skilled Heavy Milling machinist to join our team. You will play a key role in manufacturing machine parts for our customers following design specifications, blueprints, and drawings.
Key Responsibilities
* Machining parts from 1 m to 5 m in length.
* Following offline programming documents, including job set‑up, tooling sheets, and methods required for machining sequences.
* Changing tools/inserts and altering offsets to maintain parts to required engineering specifications.
* Downloading CNC programs and saving proven files.
* Operating manual machining centres when applicable.
* Measuring and inspecting manufactured items to assure accuracy to the drawing and reporting any deficiencies to the inspector and manager.
* Identifying equipment maintenance and repair needs.
* Performing routine maintenance on equipment.
* Producing work to the required quality standard while keeping waste to a minimum.
* Following written instructions, safe working practices and always maintaining a safe and tidy work area.
* Helping improve safety, quality and productivity through the continual improvement process.
Requirements
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience using multi‑axis CNC milling machines.
* Experience with gantry‑style equipment with universal head with Fanuc control and of travelling column equipment (e.g., Elga‑mill) with Heidenhain control is preferred.
* Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
* High levels of concentration and focus to achieve production targets and scheduled customer deadlines.
* Good knowledge of lifting using cranes & clamping large parts up to 5 tonnes.
* Evidence of training in safe use of overhead cranes & forklift truck preferred.
