Thesuccessful applicant should possess FRCA (or equivalent) and should be includedon the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview,if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointmentregulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the SpecialistRegister.
Applicants should have established skills in generaladult anaesthesia, with experience in thoracics, hepatobiliary and majorgeneral anaesthesia. Excellentcommunication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching andservice development are essential.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will participate in theundergraduate teaching program for the school of Medicine, University of Leeds,which is organised on specialty or clinical area basis. The appointee, withcolleagues, will contribute to the teaching of postgraduates, including theteaching program for StRs in Anaesthesia in the Yorkshire Deanery.

Job responsibilities
Inrelation to this post, this appointment will enable us to continue to deliver asafe service for our patients and increase our ability to provide appropriateanaesthetic cover for theatre lists.
2.OBJECTIVESOF THE POST
1. Towork with other consultant colleagues in the provision of a comprehensiveanaesthetic service in the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
2. Todevelop and /or consolidate expertise in anaesthesia.
3. Tomaintain and expand the excellence of teaching and research already establishedwithin the Trust.
4. Toservice plans for the specialty, taking account of the changes in clinicalpractice and new technologies available.
Person Specification
Training, Research, Teaching & Audit
* Should have completed a recognised training programme in anaesthesia.
* Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
* Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
* Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
* Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
* Evidence of Small Group Teaching, organising/ delivering formal teaching programmes.
* Completion of audit cycle and demonstrating quality improvement.
Experience
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in anaesthesia.
* Specifically, must demonstrate higher training in anaesthesia.
* Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
Qualifications
* Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
* YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE CLEARLY STATED IN YOUR APPLICATION FORM.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Is up to date and fit to practise safely.
