Core Responsibilities Practical Preparation: Setting up and testing equipment and reagents for Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level practical lessons, ensuring all materials are ready for precise delivery. Health & Safety Management: Maintaining rigorous safety standards within the prep room and laboratories, including the safe storage and disposal of chemicals in accordance with CLEAPSS and COSHH regulations. Equipment Maintenance: Managing the department’s inventory, performing routine maintenance on microscopes, power packs, and glassware, and coordinating the procurement of new supplies. Classroom Support: Assisting teaching staff during practical investigations, providing technical advice on experimental setups, and occasionally demonstrating the correct use of equipment to students. Administrative Oversight: Keeping accurate records of stock levels, safety audits, and risk assessments to ensure the department remains compliant with national educational standards. The Successful Candidate We are looking for a focused professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for the practical side of science. Requirements include: Scientific Background: A degree or high-level qualification in Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) or previous experience working in a laboratory environment. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with standard laboratory procedures, including solution preparation, titration setups, and the handling of specialized scientific apparatus. Safety First Mindset: A strong understanding of Health & Safety protocols within an educational setting; formal CLEAPSS training is highly desirable.
