Overview
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at our Beckton Sewage Treatment Works (STW). As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods.
To assist in keeping such a site running.
Responsibilities
* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and performing repairs during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Work on equipment including motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps and associated control gear, 3‑phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
* Complete statutory checks as required.
* Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.

Base Location: Beckton STW
Working Pattern: 38 hours Monday–Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm. Plus standby and overtime opportunity, potentially increasing earnings by £8,000–£10,000 on completion of essential company training.
Equipment: All PPE and tools are provided.
Qualifications
* ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues.
* Requirement to work in confined spaces with appropriate training; physical fitness required.
* A valid driving licence is essential; vehicle and tools will be provided.
