Students who struggle to learn at university due to specific learning difficulties can receive support from a Specialist Mentor. We are seeking Specialist Mentors in Belfast to assist university students starting in September 2025.


Position Requirements

All selected candidates must be able to visit Queens University Belfast or the University of Ulster and provide flexible scheduling for both in-person and online sessions to accommodate student preferences.


Role Responsibilities

As a Specialist Mentor, you will be a trusted advisor for students, assisting them throughout the academic year. Your role includes:

1. Creating strategies around organisation and time management
2. Breaking down tasks to meet deadlines
3. Helping students achieve a balance between study and daily living
4. Managing anxiety, stress, or low mood
5. Preparing students for new experiences
6. Building confidence and strengths to foster independent learning


Professional Conduct

While working for Randstad, you should consider individual student needs case by case and address any concerns promptly. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times, sharing relevant information with Randstad to ensure the best service.


Desirable Skills

* Experience working with clients with disabilities or mental health conditions
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to help students build on their learning strengths while maintaining confidentiality
* Punctuality and reliability
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to manage a caseload of students
