Are you passionate about teaching children with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN)? We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SLCN Class Teacher to join our primary team on a part-time basis (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday).
About the Role:
As an SLCN Class Teacher, you will lead and deliver a specialised curriculum tailored to meet the unique communication and literacy needs of pupils with SLCN. You will create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment, working closely with support staff, parents, and specialists to help pupils reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver engaging lessons that support speech, language, and literacy development
2. Manage a class of pupils with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs, adapting teaching methods accordingly
3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Speech and Language Therapists, teaching assistants, and parents
4. Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records and contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
5. Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Person Specification:
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SLCN or similar special educational needs
7. Strong knowledge of teaching strategies for speech, language, and communication development
8. Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
9. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to individual pupil needs
10. Passionate about supporting children with communication needs to thrive
