Location: Welwyn Garden City
Salary: starting from £19,100 per year, pro rata.
Contract: Permanent

About the Role:
Horizon Teachers is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) across all Key Stages. You’ll work 1:1 and with small groups, providing essential support to learners with complex needs, including non-verbal communication and physical or medical challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver 1:1 and small-group support tailored to pupils with PMLD, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and medical needs
* Assist with personal care, feeding, mobility (including hoisting/wheelchair use)
* Support teachers in delivering a sensory-based, adapted curriculum
* Use communication tools such as Makaton, symbols, AAC devices, and signs
* Help foster a safe, calm, and engaging learning environment
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience supporting pupils with PMLD, complex needs, or non-verbal communication
* Confidence in personal care, manual handling, and feeding
* Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
* Ability to swim, required to support pupils in one swimming lesson per week.
