Marine Water Quality Officer - 32656 at Environment Agency
We are seeking a Marine Water Quality Officer to support evidence‑based decisions across key areas, including Nuclear New Build, major infrastructure projects, and the Water Industry National Environment Programme. The role focuses on assessing the impact of discharges on water quality and modelling bathing water quality and nutrient loads in estuaries.
Responsibilities
* Review complex reports and summarise key information for decision‑making.
* Interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
* Use data to inform water quality models.
* Summarise and communicate technical work and escalated challenges when needed.
* Build strong relationships across a dispersed team and with external partners.
* Contribute to incident response and incident management duties with full training and support.
* Apply sound records management principles.
* Use initiative to support the wider team.
Qualifications
* Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; working towards professional membership is desirable.
* Experience in data analysis and ideally knowledge of modelling software.
* Skills in tools such as Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS, and specialist packages like Mike or Cormix are an advantage.
* Comfortable working in a virtual team and traveling for occasional national meetings.
Employment Details
* Two positions: one permanent and one fixed‑term 6 months.
* Full‑time hours.
* National role with flexible hybrid working.
* Location: EA Office; flexible on‑location.
