Position Summary
The position's objective is to deliver site targets by ensuring the facility structure, utilities, manufacturing systems and equipment are maintained to a premier standard. The operational support group will assist in projects to deliver quality, productivity, safety and cost saving improvements. The primary function of the role is to ensure that the facility and manufacturing process continues to deliver elite products as efficiently as possible through effective preventative maintenance, emergency breakdown response and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
* The engineer I role is to ensure that all the custom primer equipment is maintained.
* Participate as a team member in multi-functional site projects, taking ownership and responsibility in delivering actions and tasks specific to the Primer operation.
* Use trouble shooting and problem-solving techniques to ensure any systems and manufacturing equipment issues are investigated and repaired in a timely manner.
* Complete and monitor essential preventative maintenance tasks.
* Complete and monitor essential corrective work order tasks.
* Update, review and analyse department critical metrics (daily/weekly/monthly) to ensure operational support teams' performance is achieved and maintained, identifying improvement opportunities using data-driven decisions.
* Work in partnership with other departments to develop and improve the current facility, facility systems and manufacturing process equipment to deliver change and improve key performance metrics and goals.
* Training on the manufacturing process with potential support to manufacturing to synthesize products as required.
Key Skills
* Good technical knowledge of process and equipment maintenance within a manufacturing process.
* Working knowledge of control systems.
* Practical experience of manufacturing equipment maintenance, solving issues within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Good interpersonal skills – works across functions.
* Results driven; great teammate and self-starter.
* Ability to learn and develop current skills to progress within the function and lead by example.
* Ability to build relationships with current and new vendors to develop processes and systems to drive continuous improvement within manufacturing processes.
* Knowledge of process excellence techniques; lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and SPC, etc.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
* Minimum HNC or City & Guilds in an engineering field.
* Experience working within a medical device manufacturing environment or cGMP manufacturing environment would be desirable but not essential.
* Previous experience in team environments and successfully finishing projects is beneficial.
* Experience working with and maintaining facility and process equipment is essential.
* Role could require occasional travel and out-of-hours working.
* Role will require working in controlled environments with PPE.
* Support overtime and work early/backshift as needed.
