I'm looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join a leading defence organisation based in Rochester. This is an opportunity to contribute to complex, high-impact engineering programmes within the defence, aerospace, and security sectors. You will work alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team to develop advanced technology solutions that operate across a wide range of environments, from subsea to space.The RoleAs a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a central role in understanding and translating complex customer needs into structured, multi-level system requirements.
You will lead the development of sophisticated system architectures using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques and support the integration, analysis, and testing of real-time systems.The role carries responsibility for delivering technical work packages, ensuring outputs meet both technical standards and customer expectations. You will also contribute to the development of team capability through coaching and mentoring, while driving improvements in engineering practices through the adoption of modern methodologies such as Agile and 'Learn First' approaches.Key ResponsibilitiesCapture, analyse, and manage complex customer requirements across multiple system levelsDevelop system and sub-system architectures using MBSE approachesSupport integration, analysis, and testing of real-time systems across electronic, mechanical, optical, and software domainsLead and deliver technical work packages, ensuring alignment with programme objectivesEngage with customers and suppliers to ensure technical requirements are clearly understood and satisfiedProvide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to other engineersEssential Skills & ExperienceProven experience in requirements management, system design, modelling, and simulationProficiency with tools such as DOORS, Siemens Polarion, Enterprise Architect, MATLAB, and/or SimulinkExperience applying modelling methodologies such as SysMLStrong stakeholder engagement skills, including customer and supplier interactionDegree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Mathematics)Desirable SkillsExperience in integration, verification, and validation of real-time and/or safety-critical systemsUnderstanding of safety assessment processes and their influence on system designThe TeamYou will join a Systems Engineering function delivering products across a diverse portfolio of commercial and military platforms, including advanced display technologies and safety-critical control systems.Engineers are encouraged to broaden their experience across multiple domains, with opportunities to develop as subject matter experts in specific product areas or systems engineering disciplines.What's on OfferMeaningful, technically challenging work on advanced systemsOpportunities for continuous learning and career developmentA collaborative and supportive team environmentA strong focus on work-life balance and employee well-beingSecurity RequirementsYou MUST be eligible for Security Check (SC) Clearance, as per UK Security Vetting rules and requirements.The salary is £50,000 to £60,000 plus benefitsTPBN1_UKTJ
