ABOUT THE ROLE
As part of a growing finance team, the Financial Accountant will play a vital role in supporting the business’s expanding needs. The role involves ownership of key financial control activities and direct contribution to strategic and operational financial initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial statements under IFRS/UK GAAP.
* Strengthen internal controls and financial processes, with a focus on standardization and automation.
* Provide technical accounting input for complex transactions, including structured financial instruments.
* Manage audit processes and liaise with external auditors.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance financial reporting and planning.
* Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
* Contribute to wider business improvement and financial strategy projects.
Regulatory Compliance
* Maintain up-to-date financial policies and governance documentation.
* Ensure compliance with current accounting and financial regulatory standards.
* Meet all applicable regulatory reporting obligations.
ABOUT YOU
* Strong technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP, IFRS), with the ability to explain complex concepts simply.
* Exceptional attention to detail and analytical mindset — able to justify and trace back all figures.
* Solution-oriented and inquisitive, eager to find more efficient ways of working.
* Highly organized and accountable for core finance responsibilities.
* Engages confidently with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
* Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with proven experience in financial control.
* Previous experience in regulated financial services, ideally in retail banking or a fast-paced fintech environment.
* Advanced Excel skills and working SQL knowledge (including ability to run ad-hoc queries).
