THE BUSINESS
Our fantastic client is a leading high-volume manufacturing business based in County Durham. They seek to appoint a Production Planner for an immediate start. The production planner will also have purchasing responsibilities. The purchasing element can be taught, however prior experience in some form would be brilliant
THE ROLE
* Create an accurate production plan for the factory and communicate this plan to the Production team
* Through managing the Despatch schedule, help to maximise monthly Revenue
* Initiate forward planning meetings to ensure all materials are planned and will be available for production
* Drive down inventory to an acceptable level where we have stock but not overloaded in the warehouse
* Attend daily team meetings with rest of departments
* Purchase componentry and delegate raw materials purchasing to arrive in line with the Production Plan
* Negotiate with suppliers on price
* Communicate with warehousing and ensure the smooth running of the dispatch of stock
* Work with warehouse to have stock checked and use the check to make stock corrections
* Monitor goods in/booking in of materials
* Call off stock from suppliers and manage stock transfers between warehouses
THE PERSON
* Must have the ability to build great relationships with suppliers
* Must be diligent and accurate
* Must be resilient and enjoy a challenge
* Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office
* 4+ years proven production planning experience
* It would be useful to be skilled in the use of specific Supply Chain/Logistics management software such as Pegasus Opera, i2 Factory Planner, SAP or Manugistics
