An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the community mental health team, supporting clients in the Clozapine clinic and physical health clinics. The support worker will work alongside the clozapine nurse, taking blood samples from service users with enduring mental health conditions, and assist within physical health clinics, supporting physical health interventions.
Responsibilities include:
1. Working under the guidance of a Registered Mental Health Nurse to deliver quality nursing care, focusing on physical, psychological, social, recreational, and spiritual aspects through therapeutic engagement.
2. Identifying patients and their information using ID, documents, or other means.
3. Determining appropriate venepuncture methods based on patient factors.
4. Reassuring and helping patients relax during procedures.
5. Finding suitable veins for puncture and drawing blood with sterilized equipment.
6. Ensuring sample quality, labeling correctly, and sending for testing.
7. Answering patient questions and maintaining accurate records.
8. Adhering to health and safety standards and using Clinical IT systems for documentation.
Oxleas NHS offers a wide range of services, including community health, mental health care, and secure environment services across various settings in the South of England.
The role requires proficiency in phlebotomy, physical health assessments, IT systems, and excellent communication skills. Knowledge of Clozapine monitoring and experience in mental health environments are advantageous.
