Description About the Role Ocado is looking for an experienced LGV Team Manager to join our transport department. This position is central to our logistics operation and involves working a mix of day and night shifts to manage our fleet, facilities, and team of drivers. The role ensures the professional and efficient delivery of our services across various shift patterns. This position requires an individual who can effectively manage changing workloads and business demands. You will need strong organisational skills to manage priorities and a focused approach, particularly during peak operational periods. Excellent communication skills are necessary for collaborating with the team and other stakeholders. A methodical approach to work and attention to detail are essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for: Operations Management: Overseeing daily transport activities, managing shifts and the vehicle fleet, optimising routes, and ensuring timely deliveries. People Management: Leading and supporting a team of LGV drivers to maintain a high-performing and positive work environment. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all operations are fully compliant with relevant regulations, including those of the Traffic Commissioner. Customer Focus: Upholding a high standard of service to meet and exceed customer expectations, including proactive issue resolution. Safety and Standards: Maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring all safety protocols are followed. You will also represent the Ocado brand professionally in all duties. Shift Pattern: This role requires working a mix of day and night shifts. Skills and Experience Essential: Proven experience in people management, including leading teams. Experience in delivering a high standard of internal and external customer service. Previous management or supervisory experience, particularly with large groups. A current, valid UK Driving Licence. Desirable (in addition to the above): A comprehensive knowledge of the Highway Code. A thorough understanding of EU and UK Working Time Directive regulations for drivers. Familiarity with HR policies and procedures. Previous experience in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment. Experience in fleet management and Health & Safety. A Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in National or International Road Haulage.
