 
        
        Group Treatment Service Community Practitioner
The Brighton and Hove Group Treatment Service delivers groups alongside 1:1 sessions for clients in secondary care. The service provides a psychoeducational group program using the Recovery model developed within a CBT approach, drawing on mindfulness, self-compassion and acceptance and commitment therapy. The psychoeducation component aims to support people in developing an understanding of their difficulties and the development of new life skills.
This role includes facilitation of psychoeducational and creative groups. The successful candidate will take a lead role in managing referrals to the GTS and manage the daily running of the service at this site. You will also hold a caseload of service users with complex needs and will be expected to use evidence based / client centered principles to assess, plan and evaluate interventions. This post is open to Mental Health Nurses and Occupational Therapists.
Main duties of the job
 * The post holder will be responsible for assessing patients (which includes assessment for suitability for the group treatment programme), and providing individual therapeutic interventions to support the group work.
 * Lead groups and manage your own clinical caseload; lead practitioner responsibilities.
 * Offer specialist assessment and advice where required.
 * Assess and manage ongoing risks in collaboration with service users and carers; regularly review risk factors and adjust management as necessary.
 * Plan and co-facilitate group treatments.
 * Contribute to maintenance and development of the Trust strategies.
 * Ensure clinical practice is evidence based and aligned with NICE guidelines and Trust policies.
 * Participate in regular clinical, professional and managerial supervision.
 * Provide supervision of junior staff and trainees where appropriate.
 * Act within professional code of conduct and scope of practice.
 * Process referrals and contribute to day-to-day management of GTS; liaise with ATS and specialist services.

Job Responsibilities
 * The Post Holder will be an autonomous practitioner with continuing responsibility for a defined caseload of service users, undertaking the following duties: undertake assessments of individuals and their families in the designated care group with complex health presentations, including those with higher risk; develop alongside the service user their care plan.
 * Carry a caseload, including lead practitioner duties, actively working with patients and carers.
 * Offer specialist assessment and advice where required.
 * Assess and manage ongoing risks as identified during the assessment, collaborating with service user and carers; regularly review risk factors and adjust management as necessary.
 * Plan and co-facilitate group treatments.
 * Contribute to maintenance and development of the Trust strategies.
 * Ensure clinical practice is evidence based and consistent with NICE guidelines and Trust policies and procedures.
 * Participate in regular clinical, professional and managerial supervision.

Person Specification
Qualifications
 * Registered Occupational Therapist with current registration
 * Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent
 * Evidence of continuous professional development
Knowledge/Experience
 * Significant post qualifying experience in the relevant care group
 * Experience of working with people with complex health problems in the designated care group
 * Experience of supervising staff
 * Experience of managing a caseload
 * Experience of planning, facilitating and developing group work
