Using Restorative Practice to achieve the best possible outcomes for children.The Role Southend-on-Sea City Council is seeking a Social Worker to join the Family Support & Protection Team. Key responsibilities include: Managing a caseload of approximately 12 children and young people requiring long-term social work intervention. Working with children subject to child protection plans, complex child in need cases, and Pre-Proceedings/PLO cases. Acting as the duty worker, responding to queries and issues across the team’s caseload. Preparing reports, statements, and care plans for Family, County, and High Courts. Conducting thorough assessments and analyses to produce clear, evidence-based action plans. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with children and families to improve outcomes. Engaging in structured supervision, professional development, and team-led initiatives.Hybrid working is available, with a requirement to be on-site at the Civic Centre at least 2 days per week. Person Specification Applicants must: Hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Have completed their ASYE. Possess experience in Children’s Frontline Services, including child protection, looked after children, and child in need practice. Demonstrate knowledge and application of Restorative Practice in social work. Have a sound understanding of relevant legislation, guidance, and policy frameworks.
