Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities ofthe Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out othertasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels:
a.Thedelivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
b.Theprovision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
c.Genericprescribing adhering to local and national guidance
d.Effectivemanagement of long-term conditions
e.Processingof administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescriptionrequests and other associated administrative tasks
f.Ona rotational basis, undertake AccuRx triage and duty doctor roles
g.Maintainaccurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy andguidance
h.Workcollaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
i.Adhereto best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
j.Contributeto the successful implementation of continuous improvement and qualityinitiatives within the practice
k.Acceptdelegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
l.Attendand contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
m.Contributeeffective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinicalgovernance and training
n.Ensurecompliance with the appraisal process
o.Prepareand complete the revalidation process
p.Committo self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional developmentacross the practice team
q.Supportthe training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
r.Supportthe partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, makingrecommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

In addition to the primary responsibilities,the salaried GP may be requested to:
a.Participatein practice audits as requested by the audit lead
b.Participatein local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
c.Participatein the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structuredapproach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA)
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in a primary care environment
* Experience of continued professional development
* Experience of QOF and clinical audit
* General understanding of the GMS contract
* Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP
* Minimum of two years as a salaried GP
* Experience of medicines management
* Experience of ICB initiatives

* Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
* Clear, polite telephone manner
* Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
* Effective time management (planning and organising)
* Ability to work as a team member and autonomously

Qualifications
* Qualified GP
* MRCGP
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
* General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
* Full GMC registration
* National Performers List registration
* Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
* Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
Other Requirements
* Flexibility to work outside of core office hours
* Occupational Health clearance
* Project lead as required with CQC, ICB and QOF
