Deputy Lead Nurse – Fracture Clinic
The Fracture Clinic at the Royal Cornwall Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and knowledgeable nurse for the role of the Deputy Lead Nurse. This is a very busy acute clinic which sees between 60 – 80 patients per day (both adults and children) and the team strive to provide quality, timely and effective care to every patient treated.
Key Responsibilities
* Take charge of the department in the absence of the Lead Nurse, including staff management, recruitment and retention, delivery of care and assessment of patient needs.
* Oversee daily clinic operations, ensuring the clinic runs in a timely and efficient way while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
* Provide direct care for patients with complex wound dressings and support the Virtual Fracture Clinic following training.
* Work closely with the Trauma & Orthopaedic team and multidisciplinary staff, developing professional relationships and excellent communication skills.
* Be involved in developing new and innovative ways of working as the Clinic undergoes service development.
Key Requirements
* Excellent communication skills and confidence in leading a small team of staff on a day-to-day basis.
* Trauma and orthopaedic knowledge required; an interest in wound care is an advantage.
* Identity checks, professional registration and qualification checks, employment history and reference checks, occupational health clearance, satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check, right to work in the UK.
* Training and support on management and team leadership issues will be provided.
