Role Purpose
To undertake a range of specialist duties, using specialist equipment and techniques, in accordance withappropriate regulations and standards to provide a safe and effective front-line service aligned to customers need.
What you will be doing
1. To carry out mechanical repairs to various vehicles, plant and equipment ensuring. compliance with and in accordance with all current relevant codes of practice and legislation.
2. Install, repair or replace new, damaged or defective parts or sections of vehicles, plant and equipment.
3. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the fault.
4. Prepare, present and accompany all HGV vehicles, other than exempt categories, for airport annual MOT inspections.
5. Carry out periodic safety inspections to all site refuelling vehicles to the required inspection standard.
6. Carry out fault diagnosis on complex hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
7. To attend broken down or accident damaged vehicles and effect permanent or running repairs as required.
8. Operating in accordance with Airport, Health & Safety, HM Customs, Security, and JIG Standards and procedures.
9. To co-operate and fully participate in departmental and specialist training Programmes.
10. To carry out scheduled maintenance & servicing on tankers
11. Quality control checks on all fuelling vehicles.
12. Defect rectification on all fuelling vehicles.
13. To participate in the introduction and development of new systems and procedures, including those based on IT.
14. To maintain work areas in a safe and clean condition.
15. To complete associated paperwork to ensure that all statistics and legal information are produced, update dedicated workshop computer system as necessary.
16. Liaise with location Supervisors/Managers.
17. Ensuring all vehicles are serviced with diesel/gas oil and necessary lubricants.
18. Arranging and adhering to Loler regulations, Tank cleans, off spec fuel, procurement of parts
19. Recordkeeping of time spent, cost of parts, vehicle status reports, maintenance and waste disposal

What we are looking for
20. Adherence to, and knowledge of HSE standards and procedures is essential.
21. Valid driving license with LGV C+E. (ADR + CPC are desirable).
22. Good team working skills.
23. Demonstrate high levels of awareness in relation to Health & Safety, Security and the Environment.
24. Must have a checkable five-year employment or educational history.
25. Must be able to obtain and maintain an airside security pass and airside driving permit
26. Previous oil or aviation experience preferred.
27. Excellent leadership and communication skills.
28. Ability to repair/maintain diesel refuelling vehicles.
29. Basic knowledge of principles of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems and the ability to maintain and repair them
30. Ability to prepare heavy goods vehicles to Airport test standards
31. Ability to organise own workload and provide instruction to co-workers.
32. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
33. Basic keyboard skills.
34. Customer care skills in relation to communication with customers.
35. Detailed practical and working knowledge in the maintenance & repair of light and heavy goods vehicle
36. Education and Qualifications relevant and recognised training in the maintenance and repair of light and heavy goods vehicles
