We are seeking a talented and motivated RIBA Part 2 Architectural Assistant to join our multi-disciplinary urban design team. We welcome applications from recent graduates with appropriate qualifications in Architecture who are looking to gain experience across all RIBA stages while working towards professional qualification. Our practice specialises in traditional and heritage-led design, often working on sensitive and technically complex sites where a high level of planning and technical expertise is required. We have a strong track record of securing challenging planning permissions and delivering well-resolved, contextually responsive schemes that seek to create neighbourhoods and communities for the future. Our urban design team is actively involved in the development of a range of complex, multi-use buildings within masterplanning projects as well as the design of garden villages. We also undertake speculative and residential-led schemes, and ideally candidates will demonstrate some interest in residential architecture within their portfolio. A creative and thoughtful approach with an excellent eye for detail. Good working knowledge of building technology, construction methods and environmental design principles. Awareness of UK planning policy, technical standards, regulatory frameworks and health & safety requirements. Well organised with strong time management skills and the ability to manage a varied workload. Confident communicator with good interpersonal skills. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to travel within the UK as required. Key Responsibilities Technical & Design Assisting in the development of masterplans, urban design frameworks and residential layouts. Preparing and amending technical drawings and production information using CAD and other design software. Supporting the progression of design proposals from concept through to detailed design. Assisting with measured surveys, site appraisals and contextual analysis. Integrating technical, statutory and planning requirements into design proposals. Preparing drawing packages and supporting documentation for planning submissions, building control, tender and construction stages. Attending site and consultant meetings and contributing appropriately. Maintaining awareness of health & safety considerations throughout all project stages. Project & Office Support Maintaining project files and managing drawing issue records. Supporting project quality assurance procedures. Undertaking research into project briefs, materials, construction products and systems. Assisting with post-completion reviews and project debriefs. Participating in in-house and external CPD activities. Communication Attending internal and external meetings, following up on actions and contributing where appropriate. Collaborating with colleagues across the practice. Presenting work to senior team members for review and further development. Supporting general office administration and handling enquiries as experience develops.
