An exciting opportunity has arisen on our Respiratory ward at DCHFT to apply for the Band 7 Senior Sister/Ward Leader position.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join and lead our established team. This person should have significant experience at Band 6 and be seeking the next step in their career progression as a Ward Leader in a supportive environment.
Moreton Ward is a 26-bedded acute medical ward that primarily cares for patients with respiratory conditions. We take patients directly from the Emergency Department as well as patients who step down from the Intensive Care Department. The ward cares for patients requiring non-invasive ventilation, high-flow oxygen, and chest drains.
You will create, lead, and maintain a nursing culture that is open to change, new ideas, concepts, and innovation. You will be responsible for improving the patient experience and safeguarding high standards of care by creating an environment where clinical excellence can flourish and be measured.
* Lead the team to maintain and contribute to the efficient running and high-quality care delivery on Moreton ward.
* Support each patient in the initial stages of their care pathway by providing clinical leadership, professional advice, and expertise.
* Work proactively with the Clinical Site Team, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and other areas to ensure patient flow is facilitated and optimized.
* Ensure assessment areas are protected and fully functional at all times unless directed otherwise by the executive team during escalation. Plan and coordinate the unit, incorporating suitable pathways.
* Prioritize patient safety at all times; undertake and supervise all relevant assessments and documentation, e.g., DOLs, Cause for Concern.
* Lead staff in appraisals, sickness management, training, and development plans.
* You will be supported by a welcoming and experienced multidisciplinary team.
