Engineering Technician – Refinish Coatings Stowmarket PPG PPG Stowmarket is an upper-tier COMAH site specializing in the manufacture of paints and resins, primarily for the Auto Refinish market. We are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Technician, mechanically or electrically biased, with a background in manufacturing or a similar industrial environment. This hands-on role involves equipment servicing, planned maintenance tasks, and responding to breakdowns. About the Role You’ll be part of a dynamic engineering team, supporting high utilisation and continuous improvement of manufacturing plant and services equipment. Key responsibilities include: Implementing and improving planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes Performing statutory inspections and pressure system checks Recording and analysing data using the engineering computerised system Diagnosing faults, problem-solving, and executing safe repairs to minimise downtime Leading minor development projects and plant modifications Supervising external contractors and supporting process operators Assisting other site maintenance teams during peak periods or changing workloads We’re looking for someone with: A recognised engineering apprenticeship and minimum 2 years of relevant experience Strong standards orientation and forward planning skills Awareness of business goals and production processes Fault diagnosis and condition monitoring expertise Confidence in independent decision-making and knowing personal limits Clear communication skills and ability to explain technical systems Teamwork and collaboration with process and contract staff A proactive, flexible “can-do” attitude Adaptability to evolving technologies and business needs Ability to interpret data to support resin manufacture and troubleshoot issues Capability to train others and contribute to team development Strong numerical, mechanical aptitude and literacy 5-week rotating schedule: Monday - Friday 3 weeks: 07:30–15:30 1 week: 06:00–14:00 1 week: 14:00–22:00 Holiday Entitlement 21 days annual leave, rising to 22 3 additional days between Christmas and New Year 6 lieu days to be taken throughout the year All UK Bank Holidays included PPG pay ranges and benefits can vary by location which allows us to compensate employees competitively in different geographic markets.
