The role
As a Mechanical Supervisor, you’ll work within our Depth Maintenance environment, overseeing detailed aircraft maintenance activity while providing guidance and support to technicians. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll apply your engineering expertise, supervise maintenance tasks, and ensure work is completed safely, compliantly and to the highest standard. You’ll support a skilled team, help develop less experienced colleagues and contribute directly to delivering safe and airworthy aircraft.
Day-to-day, you will:
1. Undertake and supervise depth maintenance and diagnostic activities, including inspections, repairs, modifications and system testing.
2. Analyse and diagnose faults on aircraft components, applying technical expertise and recommending improvements where appropriate.
3. Ensure maintenance is completed on schedule, escalating issues and supporting problem‑solving.
4. Provide leadership within the maintenance facility by guiding technicians, demonstrating best practices and ensuring a proactive team culture.
5. Carry out compliance‑related support tasks such as tooling control, oversight checks and adherence to the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE.)
This role is full time, working 37.5 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Valley, Wales.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Supervisor:
6. Engineering knowledge and practical skills gained through previous hands‑on technical roles.
7. Evidence of contributing to the maintenance, operation, design or improvement of systems, equipment or processes.
8. Proven ability to accept and exercise personal responsibility in safety‑critical environments.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, influence and support a diverse workforce.
10. Commitment to professional conduct and high standards, including time management and quality of work.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Supervisor:
11. Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (ideally Aeronautical) or equivalent military apprenticeship.
12. City & Guilds Aeronautical Engineering & Maintenance or NVQ Level 3 Aeronautical discipline.
13. Considerable experience and fully competent with required authorities in place.
14. Aircraft platform training relevant to the fleet.
15. Trade Principles training and strong IT competency.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) clearance for this role.
