Overview
We at TFP Fertility are looking for a Registered Nurse to lead a team of nurses and sonographers. The post holder is responsible for delivering and maintaining the highest standard of ultrasound assessment and patient care in accordance with HF&E Act 2008 and the current HFEA Code of Practice. The post holder will coordinate both the nursing and sonography services and be a member of the Clinic Management Team to coordinate the activities of the functional areas of Clinical Services.

The Role
Planning and organising
* Oversee and coordinate patient throughput between the clinic and its satellite services.
* Ensure all treatments covered by the HFEA license are in full compliance with those requirements.
* Act as the Accountable Officer for the storage of controlled drugs within the Clinic in accordance with the Home Office license.
* Ensure optimal staffing allocation within the given financial framework, and to develop work rotas accordingly.
* Follow developments in the field of nursing and sonography services and identify opportunities for improvement to keep the clinic at the leading edge of assisted reproduction treatment.
* Help develop and manage the nursing/sonography area budget.
Operations management, compliance management, customer service and support
* Assist patient management and service delivery by providing advice from the nursing or sonography perspective.
* Develop and maintain systems and processes to ensure the patients’ experience of the clinic is as good as possible, reflecting care, control, value and cost.
* Manage situations in the nursing/sonography area not covered by standard operating procedures.
* Contribute to the holistic approach to patient care that the clinic endeavours to provide.
* Supervise the work in the nursing/sonography area and ensure it is conducted in accordance with regulatory and clinic requirements as well as best practice.
* Take part in the rota of duties to ensure cover in the nursing/sonography area.
* Ensure adequate maintenance and provision of suitable equipment in the nursing/sonography area.
* Ensure that patients are adequately informed about treatment options, treatment outcomes and implications.
* Ensure that patients give informed consent as required by regulatory bodies.
Analysis and reporting
* Clinical documentation and record keeping meet regulatory requirements as well as clinic needs.
* Ensure that record keeping and data collection and reporting within the nursing and sonography area support the clinic strategy.
* Generate statistics for performance monitoring and report them as appropriate.
Liaison
* Ensure information to colleagues, patients and the public is accurate and appropriate within the area of responsibility.
* Liaise with professional bodies regulating sonographers and nurses to ensure staff meet or exceed professional standards.
* Build and maintain professional networks to assist recruitment and to develop knowledge of developments in the assisted reproduction field.
* Help project the clinic image in professional and patient communities.
Quality management
* Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and new protocols as practices and technology develop.
* Work with the Quality Manager to ensure the Quality Management System is updated in the nursing/sonography area.
People management
* Participate in the recruitment of staff to the nursing and sonography team.
* Ensure tasks are assigned to competent staff.
* Ensure staff are current with regard to practices and knowledge by providing opportunities for CPD.
* Provide training in relevant aspects of assisted conception to develop services.
* Regularly hold minuted meetings with the nursing/sonography staff.
Supervision and training
* Participate in teaching, training and supervision of fertility nurses, students and trainees.
* Participate in Patient Information Evenings and ensure other nursing/sonography team members are trained to participate.
Health and safety
* Ensure the efficient and safe functioning of all clinical areas.
* Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
Job Requirements
Education and qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* NMC Part one registered
* Evidence of CPD
Experience and Knowledge
* Specialist knowledge of fertility or gynaecology treatment delivery.
* Ability to produce clear comprehensive reports for clinicians.
* Demonstrated judgement and decision-making when solutions are not obvious.
* Ability to find innovative solutions to maximise service quality, efficiency and continuity.
* Experience with managing common staff issues.
Skills and Abilities
* Interpret policy, legislation, regulations and national codes of practice, advising on non-compliance implications and applying changes in area of work.
* Ensure professional and quality service standards are maintained in own area.
* Deliver training sessions/workshops to diverse audiences within time constraints.
Personal Qualities
* Self-motivated, able to work as part of a team or autonomously.
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to the public, stakeholders and the multi-disciplinary team.

Desirables
* Degree level education or equivalent
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in fertility
* Specialist knowledge of medical conditions significant in fertility
* Specialist knowledge of fertility treatment delivery and early pregnancy management
Compensation and Working Arrangements
* Location: TFP Thames Valley Fertility - Maidenhead
* Salary: Competitive (Depending on experience)
* Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Weekends required at 1:4
* Pension: Dual contribution pension scheme
* Holiday Entitlement: 27 Days + Bank holidays
